Starter toner cartridge appears worth a couple of thousand pages. Claimed start up time and pages per minute are conservative--I get much faster than 7 seconds start up and faster than 38/minute with stock configuration (I do have a fast computer). Printing quality is superior at 1200 x 1200. Set up is a breeze. I have a great affection for Brother printers, and use them consistently as my "back ups", but my "work-horse" monochrome lasers have always been Dells. This unit is a lot smaller than my last Dell (which lasted five (5) years), but it is faster, has higher quality printing, and is just as trouble-free. Amazon price (which routinely varies +/- up to 10%) is more than reasonable, especially when you consider no tax/shipping charges. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, despite the fact that 300 sheet reservoir is modest. I have not bothered to increase RAM. Likewise, adding a second paper tray is simply not worth the cost.

Basic printing is ok but tends to over-ink. Dealing with Dell is frustrating and time-wasting. Their technical support is not comfortable for Macs. Web site is a runaround. No manual included. On-line the manual is formatted for PC's. I have an iMac could not open the file. Took two hours to get the information when one of their technical support people finally reformatted into pdf and e-mailed the manual. But, I had to be fairly insistent and persistent. This should not have been necessary. Dell claims I had bought the printer a month before I had done so and, because the printer's manual feed did not work, send me a refurbished printer although I had purchased the new printer only a week before contacting them. I had to get my states attorney general involved in order for them to send a new, not refurbished, printer. Dell is still claiming what functionally is an 11-month warranty.
