It does a lot, it does it quickly, it prints from just about anything with a microchip, and it's easy to set up. The only disadvantage to this beast is that it takes up a lot of space. We use the printer primarily from OSX, but it works from Windows too, and I was even able to print from a Tandy WP-2, an eight bit computer from 1989 that connected directly to the printer's parallel port.
It wakes from sleep faster than Lexmark printers do, in my experience, and the print looks better than a Xerox Phaser. My only complaint is with the form factor -- the printer is vast, and the auxiliary paper tray is on the side, so in addition to finding the linear feet for the printer itself, you need to leave a couple of extra feet to the right if you plan to print on letterhead or transparencies (yes, you can put them in the regular printer tray as an alternative, but it would be nice to use the auxiliary tray since Dell was nice enough to build one in there).

Have had the 5130 CDN for 13 months now. The consumables are incredibly expensive and only available from Dell. We are constantly having to replace toner, the toner waste container, fuser, etc. They are all high-priced from Dell.

Called for support and wasted a ridiculous amount of time on hold then being transferred to different people.
Finally spoke to a tech support person who ultimately told me that since the printer wasn't under warranty any longer I'd have to order a "Ross Assembly"/print head and have the MCU/ESS board replaced. He also told me I'd have to hire a technician to install these parts as they are not something a customer can do. And he said that I could NOT pay to order the parts from Dell or have a...Read more
