If you press the red 'X' button when the jam light appears it clears the light and you can then print the next whatever. Lexmark's commercial grade lasers function the same way in that each page/envelope has to be cleared when using manual feed. It isn't a defect..its just the way the manual feed works.
I was an unfortunate owner of the infamous HP P2015dn and went through two formatter boards before giving up on it and moving on to the E260dn. I haven't had the printer long enough to comment on its longevity but I can say this is a superior printer to the HP (all HP problems aside). Faster to first print, faster printing sheet for sheet, much better duplexing and better software in general. Print quality is about the same. Both are quiet although the Lexmark is quicker to shut down its processing. The HP did have a better envelope/manual feed. Now, for an embarrassing acknowledgment...Read more 17 of 17 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Lexmark E260DN Network-Ready Monochrome Laser Printer (34S0300) (Office Product) This printer is easy to set up and produces good quality print. I haven't had the other reviewers' problems with the manual feed of envelopes, and the Lexmark handles automatic paper feed with ease. One thing I don't like about it is that the on-off switch is in back rather than on the side. Given my computer set-up, this means an awkward stretch for me every time I turn the printer on or off.
The toner cartridge is easy to insert and remove, and the print it produces is sharp and dark and doesn't smudge. My main beef with the Lexmark lies with its voracious appetite for toner. At the default settings the cartridge gets used up in less than the advertised maximum 3500 pages -- not good if you regularly print a lot, often hundreds of pages a day, as I do. However, you can ameliorate this problem by adjusting the settings. In Printer Preferences click on Print Quality, there click on Custom, and then slide the indicator arrow from 10 to at least 5, which in...Read more 17 of 17 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Lexmark E260DN Network-Ready Monochrome Laser Printer (34S0300) (Office Product) The good parts:
- Absolutely silent at idle, reasonably quiet in operation. - FAST! Its warm-up time is very quick, documents come across the network very quickly, and the print speed is wonderful. - Great main tray paper handling...no jams, and the duplexer works perfectly. - Easy to set up. The wizard on the setup disc worked very well, and it's nice to be able to point your browser at the printer to get a complete status readout without wasting a page printing it out. The bad part: - The manual feed is worthless, as other reviewers have said. I'm currently hand-writing addresses on envelopes, which does not make me happy. The rollers grip and pull an envelope into the machine just fine, but then the paper jam light comes on and it's all over. My hope is a firmware update fixes it...someday... * 9/18/09 UPDATE * Still works perfectly as mentioned above, except for the manual feed - - which is still worthless. I'm...Read more |
