Good concept, but handicapped by its non-adjustable trip level,

The concept behind this Monster Digital PowerCenter HDP 650G is good, though hardly "revolutionary" as claimed. I have purchased the Smart Strip LCG5 Energy Saving Power Strip more than two years ago, and it operates on exactly the same auto-off principle. Basically, you need to draw a minimum amount of current or power from the 'Master' device, before all four of the 'Slave' devices can power on. Once the Master device is turned off, or its current drops below a lower threshold, all the Slave devices are tripped off.
Compared to the Smart Strip LCG5, the Monster HDP650G has one major drawback: its current-detection threshold is non-adjustable. The manufacturer did not disclose...Read more

This is the second similar power strip I purchased. It is sold under many names and brands. This was the best price for feature when I purchased it. I haven't seen much of a difference in the electric bill due, but every little bit helps in the end.

It works quite well for it's intended task. I'm using a fairly low-power TV (Sony 55NX810) that has a two-prong plug as the control device and it reliably turns on/off the switched circuits. It appears to be exactly the same as the Monster-only
branded version but for much less.
It doesn't have the "CleanPower" feature, but until I see an independent review that proves it does anything for the average user, I wouldn't pay more for a unit that has it unless you live in an area that has bad power.
