NEC has designed the SuperScript 4650N Internet Color Laser Printer for offices needing crisp, high-speed professional-quality text and graphic printing. It prints in color at 4 pages per minute (ppm) and in monochrome at 16 ppm, has dual resolution modes of 600 x 600 dpi, and 1,200 x 1,200 dpi for color and monochrome PostScript printing, with fine tone quality, fine shades and gradations, and sharp text. It's further supported by an internal duplexer, a 200 MHz RISC processor, 96 MB of expandable memory, and proprietary NEC technologies that ensure consistent, high-quality printing over the life of the printer.
The 4650N supports a wide array of paper media to meet the needs of most offices, including a full range of professional stationery and envelopes (up to 8.5 by 14 inches), labels, transparencies, and card stock. The NEC SuperScript 4650N PrintAgent technology uses the Web to provide real-time print-job status, remote, and pull printing. The practical module design provides increased capacity and reduced waste and mess. A second paper feeder doubles page capacity, readily printing on both paper and transparencies.
Compatible with PC and Mac, using parallel and USB interfaces, the SuperScript 4650N supports an assortment of operating systems, including Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0, or 3.1x, DOS (PCL6/5e), UNIX, and Macintosh. NEC offers a standard 1-year limited warranty plus a second year free upon product registration within 30 days of purchase. An optional ServiceXpress package is also available.

I own one and send color documents via the Internet simply by typing in the 10 digit URL of the other printer that I want to send to. It supports TRUE ADOBE PostScript too, not an emulation like HP's. The price is right too! It has teriffic prints I thought that it would be a laser type print. I do TCP/IP networking all of the time but getting this printer to work on the network required calling NEC technical support because the information was poorly presented and vague. When you first call, their first line of support are junior techs who don't know about networking. Then they put me into their queue to have a senior tech call. TWO WEEKS later (and making several more calls to tech support) someone finally got back to me. Fortunately he was very helpful and my issue was finally resolved. HOWEVER, this printer misfeeds all of the time and requires constant attention making it extremely difficult and time consuming to actually get any real work done with it. |
