About GelSprinter Liquid Gel
Gel Sprinter is an economical alternative to laser printing that utilizes a uniquely formulated viscous ink to address the shortcomings of traditional low viscosity inks. There are two types of low viscosity ink: Dry-based, which soak into the paper, spread, dry slowly, and produce dull images, and Pigment-based which dry faster that Dry-based inks, but not fast enough to provide the quality necessary for duplex printing. GelSprinter Liquid Gel has virtually none of these limitations. They are thicker, Pigment-based inks that dry instantly on contact with paper.
About Wide Print Heads
GelSprinter print heads are three times wider that those of conventional inkjet printers. Each print head nozzle is durable, allowing ink to be ejected at greater pressure, which prevents clogging. These extra-wide print heads move in tandem for greater coverage per pass, delivering superior speeds over a much larger printable area that any other inkjet printer. Unlike laser printers, the GelSprinter color printers do nt need to fuse print images to paper, allowing for faster warm-up, recovery, and first-prints, and increased overall productivity.
Belt Feeding System
Traditional inkjet printers use rollers that can leave sheets of paper unsupported, causing them to ripple and jam. Double-sided printing can also cause problems. By contrast, the GelSprinter series of color printers used high-speed electrostatic attraction to hold each sheet firmly in place on its path through the machine, eliminating misalignment, blurring, and other problem and other problems that accompany registration. Additionally, GelSprinter uses a sophisticated Belt Feeding System that practically eliminates paper jams and allows speedy double-sided printing over a laser-like print area GelSprinter printers maximize page ‘real estate’ without compromising image quality or output speed.

This review is from: Ricoh Aficio GX3050 GelSprinter Color Printer (Office Product) I was excited to get what I thought would be a very speedy, newly hi-tech inkjet system (this "new" gel thing) and a little extra capacity in the input tray. For the most part, that's what this is. I have not really put it to the test yet. I have used it for an unusual purpose, namely, numbering printed forms (in my small print shop with inexpensive numbering software). The first case was to number 22000 coupons that had been printed 8-up with a production digital color printer. The numbers were to overprint the color image. At first it seemed ok, but after the test sheet, the numbers stopped printing. After several other false starts, I tried other plain paper. Fine. Then I tried switching paper choice to glossy, and that went ok, except I had lost the speed. But I had to keep going to get the job done. It took over 10 hours. Oh well...and one other bugaboo was that, randomly, a number would be missing here and there. Not good; hard to say if that is printer or some sort of software...Read more |
