They're inexpensive, and in the past it's been possible to find dirt-cheap aftermarket toner cartridges for them, so you could print for about a penny per page.
I still haven't been able to find aftermarket cartridges for this printer though. All the usual suspects list it as "coming soon," but have since April. I guess Samsung has made the cartridges for this printer a lot harder to reverse-engineer. I bought this printer in a hurry because I ran out of toner for my earlier model Samsung printer, and thought it would be a good idea to have an extra printer around anyway. I used it until the toner cartridge that came with it ran out, and when I was using it, I found it to be lightning fast, very quiet, and compact. The ML-2525 is faster, quiet and doesn't jam paper like other Dell, Hp and prior model Samsungs I've had on my desk. paper tray holds 250 sheets which is almost double other under 4100 B&W laser printers. 27 of 31 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Samsung ML-2525 Monochrome Laser Printer (Office Product) printer was initially inexpensive to purchase, print quality is good, speed is good.
BUT, the replacement cartridge was expensive at $92 and it claimed to average 1500 sheets. i was able to get only about 700 sheets out of it before it was empty - just a few hundred more than the cartridge that came with the machine and less than half of the claimed average. i'm not sure if this was a lemon of a replacement cartridge but samsung support was unwilling to replace it for me as the cartridge is considred a 'consumable'. so far this machine is more expensive to operate than the old inkjet i was using prior- at about 13 cents per sheet. i'm considering returning this machine as it so far is not doing the job it was claimed it could do. |
